Ban the Bomb zine

Linocut printed poster hotdog zines

I wanted to try printing a full A4 block of lino as a hotdog zine, to see if this is an effective method. This would reduce the time it would take to print each individual page. I also wanted to make something that responded to the current global affairs; the devastating wars and suffering they are causing.

I designed some visual illustrations that reflect this theme and placed them in the template of an A4 cut and fold hotdog zine format. I then created a poster design to print on the other side, so that the zine can be read then unfolded into a poster. This uses similar illustrations with some text to establish an active motivation of the meaning and aim of the zine/poster. Both of these designs are carved an A4 piece of lino and then printed onto each side of A4 paper.

I also made some cards from the offcuts with text to accompany each one and spark thought. Some collaged one and some printed on directly, with rubber letter stamps.
